“KONECT” network meeting, 17 October 2017
The KONECT network, a network of civil society organizations dealing with education of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, has held the next meeting in a row. The host of today’s meeting was KEC, as the partner organization of the network, while the goal of the meeting was to exchange information on achievements in the field of supporting the education of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian children in the school year 2016/17.
In addition, the activities of partner organizations in the field of mediation in schools and advocacy initiatives in the community were also discussed. Special space was dedicated to the Administrative Instruction no. 12/2017 on the establishment and functioning of Learning Centers, recently issued by the MEST, and also the preparation of partner organizations from the network that are managing learning centers, in order to meet the requirements from this instruction as soon as possible.
The purpose of the CONECT network is to improve opportunities for education of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian children through mobilization of CSOs at both the municipal and central levels, in order to maintain a meaningful dialogue with local authorities and the Government on the issues of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities and their participation in decision-making and policy in relation to this area.
