Kosovo Foundation for Open Society KFOS:

The Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS) is a local non-governmental organization and a member of the Open Society Foundations that aims to build vibrant and tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable to their citizens. Its vision remains grounded on three major concepts: individual freedom under the rule of law, opportunity with responsibility and full equality for all. The Foundation supports local initiatives that shape public policies that assure greater fairness in political, social, legal, and economic systems and safeguard fundamental rights. The Foundation works with government and civil society to strengthen capacities, improve implementation of existing policies, and develop new strategic directions.

Kosova Education Center- KEC

Kosova Education Center (KEC) is a non-governmental and not-for- profit organization founded in 2000 by Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS), focused on offering training programs to teachers and school staff. This still remains an important aspect of its operations, but KEC has implemented dozens of other projects to improve the quality of education, human rights and education research. KEC has a wide range of local and international partners that consist of non-governmental organizations, consulting companies, development agencies and state institutions. Since 2004, the school “Mileniumi i Tretë” operates within KEC management, and carries out its activities in primary and secondary education.

BALKAN SUNFLOWERS KOSOVA is a nongovernmental and nonprofit association with the following objectives:

  • Improve the educational, social, psychological, health, emotional and intellectual development of children and young people, their families and their communities.
  • Advocate and mediate for the human rights of marginalized groups.
  • Propel positive social change and support community empowerment through research, advocacy, training, mentoring, volunteerism and innovative program development.

Bethany Christian Services in Kosovo vows to make aware the society regarding human rights, fulfillment of social needs and education of people in need in order to develop and improve the lives of individuals and the community as a whole.

Creating the premises of a society with high democratic values, ready to function and respect the human rights, with the aim of an overall society development.

The organization is focused on activities related to Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities in Kosovo and develops its actions in collaboration and cooperation with educational institutions: MEST, MED, schools and the community itself. NVK also cooperates with other organizations in order to help Roma  in other areas such as health, social assistance, in the role of a mediator between Roma and respective institutions and similar activities.

Nevo Koncepti has been acting intensively in the field of education by promoting human rights, children’s rights, cooperation with institutions, collaboration with parents, women and children and by implementing activities for improving the position of children in education.

Roma and Ashkalia Documentation Center – RADC

RADC focuses on:
Advocacy for issues of interest in regard to the assessment of needs of these numerical minorities and networking with other partners interested to improve the status of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in general;

Education and public awareness of the public administration regarding certain issues of human rights, in particular the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, which includes lectures and discussions in public institutions, non-profit, private and academic; public awareness campaigns through traditional and social media.

SHL-Kosova (SHL-K) is a locally registered NGO working with youth. It was established in December 2008 with a support of the German Foundation “Stiftung Schueler HelfenLeben” (SHL) based in Berlin, Germany. In order to enable the young people to meet and be active together, SHL Germany set up a Youth Centre in the Rahovec municipality in 2004.

The program itself consists of the regular youth center activities such as language courses, leisure time activities and the use of the space for gathering with friends and playing. Furthermore, there are several means by which young people are prepared by the center to apply for a job and get assistance in searching for a job and career guidance.

“Syri i Vizionit” aims to promote local democracy and citizens’ participation in Kosovo. In its continuous efforts for democratic practices, “Syri i Vizionit” gives special role to promotion of good governance, transparency and participation in different spheres of civil society.

”Syri i Vizionit” started operating as early as 1999 as a Community-Based Organization (CBO) in the municipality of Pejë. ”Syri i Vizionit” has gained in professionalism and implemented a large spectrum of multi-faced projects, proving itself as a genuine Civil Society actor in Kosovo.
